HomeAI ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our home management platform.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your email address, name, and profile picture. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive the information those services share (email, name, profile photo).

Home inventory data: We store information you provide about your household items — pantry contents, clothing, bar inventory, and associated metadata (categories, quantities, notes).

Photos: When you use AI scan, photos are sent to a third-party AI provider for item recognition. Photos are stored in your private storage bucket and are accessible only to you and anyone you explicitly share your home with.

Usage data: We collect basic usage information to improve the service. This data is not linked to personally identifiable information beyond your account.

Subscription data: If you upgrade, we record your subscription tier and usage. Payment processing is handled by Stripe — we do not store full card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the HomeAI service
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • Process photos through AI to identify and catalogue household items
  • Generate personalised recipe suggestions and grocery lists
  • Send transactional emails (e.g. sign-in codes, billing receipts)
  • Enforce plan limits and manage subscriptions
  • Respond to your support requests

We do not sell your personal data, use it for advertising, or share it with any party other than as described in this policy.

3. AI Processing and Third-Party Services

Our AI scan feature sends photos to third-party AI model providers (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, and/or Google AI) solely to identify items in the image. We do not authorise these providers to retain or train on your data beyond what their terms permit.

We also use:

  • Supabase — database hosting and authentication infrastructure
  • Google OAuth — optional sign-in provider
  • Stripe — payment processing for paid plans

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We share your information only:

  • With people you invite: Shared home members access your inventory as permitted by the role you assign.
  • With service providers: Only as necessary to operate the service.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law or government authority.
  • Business transfer: If we are acquired, your data may transfer. We will notify you beforehand.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law.

6. Your Rights

You may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Data Security

We use encrypted connections (TLS), database encryption at rest, and access controls. No system is completely secure, but we implement appropriate safeguards.
