Abode ("we", "our", or "us") is a product of Vavyan. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Abode service (abode.vavyan.com).
By using Abode, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
Account information: When you register, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive the information Google shares (email, name, profile photo).
Home inventory data: We store information you provide about your household items — pantry contents, clothing, bar inventory, and associated metadata (categories, quantities, notes).
Photos: When you use AI scan, photos are transmitted to a third-party AI provider for item recognition. Photos are stored in your private storage bucket and accessible only to you and anyone you explicitly grant access to.
Usage data: We collect basic usage information (features used, scan frequency) to maintain and improve the service. This is not linked to individually identifiable third-party advertising profiles.
Subscription data: If you upgrade, we record your subscription tier. Payment processing is handled by Stripe — we do not store card details.

Our AI scan feature transmits photos to third-party AI model providers (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, and/or Google AI) solely to identify items in the image. We do not authorise these providers to retain your data for training purposes beyond what their own terms permit.

You are solely responsible for all data that you transmit or that relates to any activity you have undertaken using Abode. We are not responsible for any loss or corruption of data that you submit, and you waive any right of action against us arising from such loss or corruption.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, email privacy@vavyan.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
We use encrypted connections (TLS), database encryption at rest, and strict access controls. No system is completely secure; we implement appropriate technical and organisational safeguards and will notify you of any breach as required by law.
Abode is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe we have done so, contact us immediately.
We reserve the right to change, modify, or update this Privacy Policy at any time at our sole discretion. We will notify you by email of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Non-material clarifications will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Abode after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
